  • What is the adoption process and how long will it take to get a dog ?
    The adoption process is here:

The time to adopt has ranged from 48 hours (very rare) to 1 year, with the average from 2 to 3 months .

  • What is the adoption fee ?
The adoption fee is a "reimbursable" fee set up to cover spay/neuter, shots, dental, and health certificate for travel. We must recoup the expense for each dog or we cannot take in another.

    Adoption Fee Schedule

Our funding is 80% from our own pockets so we are always on a shoestring budget. Current data shows that we spend an average of $ 387.90 on each healthy dog we take in and an average of $ 1,240.20 on each dog we take in with problems. We then adopt them out for only the amount of spay/neuter, shots, etc., the normal expense you would have if you purchased a puppy. We depend on donations from good breeders and you to help us make up the difference. We also have fund raisers, items for sale, etc. to make money to help with surgeries for these homeless babies

** Fee is reimbursed if adoption does not work out and dog is returned to rescue. We do not always refund shipping costs.

  • Why can't I adopt and my vet Alter the dog we wish to adopt.

We, as all good rescues do, Alter (spay/neuter) all animals that we intake prior to adoption. This is more to your advantage than to ours. Many people think that Spay/Neuter is a small surgery but any surgery has risk. We do the surgery here so that if anything goes wrong we pay for it. Also there are times when lives are lost in surgery, this would be heartbreaking to our clients to adopt and then lose their new babies.

We have instances where dogs have had a stroke during surgery, these are very small dogs so they are more at risk. This stroke can cost from 500.00 to 3,000.00 to recover a dog and we pay that. We also do the surgery recovery as we are home with them and are set up for medical care. This alone can save you many sleepless nights.

  • What is the "Home Visit" ?
The home visit is set up to be sure that you are a family wanting to adopt a baby and that everything on your application is true. You would be surprised to find how many home visits are not what they should be. We have a very expensive breed and many people prey on them for money. We must do everything possible to be sure we are placing them in a safe, loving environment.

It would be easier for us to skip many of these time consuming steps, and use our "gut" feelings, but it would just not be in the dogs best interest and that is what rescue is....we look out for the Dog's best interest.

When we take them in, terrified and sick, the first thing we do is give them a big hug and whisper in their ear that we will do EVERYTHING to ensure that their lives from that day forward will be better, and the home visit is the single most important thing we do to be sure that promise is kept.
