Jody

Jody

A friend in rescue spotted Jody as she was going through the shelter near her. She asked why she was there and they told her that her family brought her in to be put to sleep. My friend asked if she might have her to send to Maltese rescue and the shelter gave Jody to her. My friend dropped her off in missouri at Jean's house and I went to get her.

Jody was taken in for several reasons, she was old, the vet said between 16 and 18, she had cushings and congestive heart failure and also some cancerous tumors. Jody had a lot of health issues, but she was very much alive. She came home, bit my husband, chased my Grandkids and settled in. The vets here confirmed that Jody was terminal and would probably only live a few weeks but we started a diet and medications and some really good pain pills.

Jody lived here for 9 months and made it thorugh one more Christmas. I know that she was happy and loved us as much as we loved her. I would not trade anything in the world for the time I had with Jody as she taught me so many things. I know that Jody missed her family but she put that behind her and adopted me as her mom. We spent a lot of nights together as she couldn't sleep at night and I couldn't either. Those times were very special.

On her last day here we went out and she ate a burger, her favorite food, and then to Dairy Queen for an ice cream, her favorite desert and then we went to the vet. He could no longer keep the pain away and I couldn't let my friend suffer. She was in my arms when she went to sleep and crossed her last bridge.
Jody, I miss you, tell everyone else hi for me and I will see you all soon .... love, Mom (Marsha Ardoin)
